NOT CHURCH

A spiritual community where you belong, no matter what you believe.

What our community says:

“I love that Not Church is a space where it’s ok to be authentically me, and where it feels like others are showing up with their authentic selves. It’s a community with genuine connection.”

“I like that it's a space that fully acknowledges the harm of Christianity while also holding space for people of faith.”

“No judgements at NotChurch. It is just people being themselves and allowing others to be themselves as well.”

“Not Church is a very diverse group, which is a compassionate, accepting community.”

What it is

Not church is full of people of all religious identities and non-identities. It’s a space for those who aren’t sure what they believe, who’ve been hurt by the church and walked away, or who are simply allergic to judgmental spirituality. Here, we explore and choose practices that actually work for us—practices that help us become our best selves, discover a purpose bigger than ourselves, and experience moments of transcendence.

We show up for each other in hard times, process our religious trauma together, swap stories, debate wildly different beliefs—and yes, share way too many pictures of our pets.

What makes this space truly different is the posture of learning and respect. When someone shares a belief another person completely disagrees with, the response isn’t attack—it’s curiosity. You’ll hear things like, “Wow, I’ve never heard someone describe God that way. Can you tell me more?”

And because so many of us have been manipulated by churches out of our money, we don’t ask for donations or tell them that the Bible wants them to give us 10% of their income (it doesn’t btw). Everything we do is a pay-for-what-you-get model.

It’s like all the things we long for from a church (community, support, spiritual exploration) without the fear, shame, or threats of hell because you happen to have a tarot deck on your bedside table.

Subscribing to the community is $3 a month, and if it doesn’t work for you, you just stop paying.
